Look and Feel
The Cobra UFi irons look like your traditional cavity backed irons, made from a steel alloy body. but that’s where its common looks end and the technology that’s packed in these super game improvement irons begins. The face of the irons have a Metal Matrix face insert that is a nine-metal alloy that is 65% lighter than steel and 35% lighter than titanium. The insert is a little strange looking, because you can see the outline of the insert on the face of the club, something you don’t normally see. The other unique look of the Cobra UFi is the use of polymer insert for the topline of the club. The polymer topline does several things, it reduces weight in the topline by lowering the center of gravity, which promotes a higher launch angle and greater feel. The wide-sole of the UFi irons have Tungsten heel-toe weighting that produces a high MOI club that is forgiving and has increased distance off the tee. The inclusion of Nippon NS 900 Steel shafts make the Cobra UFi irons very light and improve your swing speed for greater launch angle and distance. Golf Pride Tour Velvet 50D grips round out the Cobra UFi irons setup.
Performance
The Cobra UFi Irons are designed for players looking for the ultimate in forgiveness, distance, and feel. As mentioned earlier, these are super game improvement irons and are extremely forgiving golf clubs. It was really difficult to hit a poor shot with the UFi’s, thanks to its high MOI in the Tugnsten heel-toe weights. The Tugnsten weights help prevent the club from twisting and provide a low center of gravity, which produce a nice high launch and increased shot distance. Even on my miss hits by golf ball would travel with very little loss in distance and launch angle, which makes the Cobra UFi’s a very forgiving set of irons. The reduced weight of the polymer topline also further aids with lowering the center of gravity, but also makes the UFi irons very responsive and improves your feel. In terms of shot shaping and control, I found it a little difficult to produce a fade or draw with the UFi irons, because it kept correcting my shots. I don’t think this will be a problem for most golfers, since the target audience for these clubs is not going to be interested in shaping their shots. The wide-sole design of the UFi irons, helps glide the clubs smoothly through turf with very little clubhead digging or catching on missed shots. Even from the moderate rough you can have confidence that the UFi irons are going to perform quite well. I didn’t run into any problems with these irons getting caught up in the fairway on my approach shots or from the rough. The use of Nippon NS 900 steel shafts provided the right amount of flex and control when swinging the club. The lightweight of the shafts really helped with increasing my swing speed, which produced nice high launch shots with greater distance.
I think that any high handicap golfer could benefit from picking up a set of these well appointed and technologically advanced irons. If your looking for forgiveness, distance, and feel, then the Cobra UFi Irons are your best bet.

Best set of Irons I ever owned. My handicap ranges between 12-15 so certainly a midcapper. I have owned every major brand of Irons, including Callaway, Ping, Taylormade, Titleist, Browning, Nike, Spaulding, McGregor, Sears, Tommy Armour, and a few more I have forgotten.
The UFI’s are the easiest to hit. Love the hot face, low CG, hi MOI, generous sole, minimum offset, hi quality steel shafts, etc. The large face and thick top line inspires confidence which is 75% of the battle with golf shots. The ball simply goes where aimed with nice trajectory. These will stay in my bag longer than any other I have owned before.
Prices are now a good value..$499 for 4 thru GW.
I should add….Cobra does not make these any more so grab a set before they are all gone from existing stock. I bought mine from GolfSmith. After I bought them for $699, the price dropped to $499 within 2 weeks and Golfsmith was nice enough to give me a $200 cash credit!
I bought a set a couple of days ago and they are truly the easiest club to hit. Definitely a great buy for anyone who is looking for an easy to hit club. The ball lauches long and high and every shot feels pure. I can even hit the long irons which I had trouble hitting with my Callaway X-16s.
