With incredible buzz on the Tour and Internet, Bridgestone is releasing a super limited edition set of their popular J36 Cavity Back irons. I got a chance to checkout the limited edition set at the 2009 PGA Merchandise Show at the Bridgestone Booth. The company’s award-winning J36 Cavity Back series has undergone a serious makeover, utilizing a proprietary black finish to give the irons a handsome new look. Only 500 sets of the Black J36 Cavity Backs will be produced worldwide.
The Bridgestone J36 Black Cavity Backs offer golfers more forgiveness, yet maintain the same premium forged feel and precision of blades. The J36 Black Cavity Backs feature a tapered sole design similar to that in the J36 Blades making them easier to ‘work’ than other premium cavity backs on the market.
The J36 Black Cavity Backs are premium forged from raw 1020 mild carbon steel for the ultimate in soft feel and feature U-grooves for the best in distance and spin control. Standard across the J36 line is a tapered sole-design for more versatility in shot making, allowing players to ‘work the ball’ and more easily control trajectory. Another key feature is the trailing edge relief for better performance from a variety of lies, especially out of the rough. Each iron features a raw black oxide finish (no plating) that produces a glare-reducing, sleek appearance that better players and iron collectors will love.
The J36 Black Cavity Backs are amazing in person and each set has is numbered and that is found on the hosel of the irons. You better hurry, only 500 sets of these incredible irons are being produced. The J36 Black Cavity Backs (4-PW) will feature a suggested retail price of $1000, and will only be available through custom order beginning March 2009.
