Danish shoemaker ECCO introduced its men’s golf collection for Spring/Summer 2009, showcasing the brand’s new Four Dots logo alongside superior materials, technologies and craftsmanship across a wide selection of classic and modern styles.

One of those is the Ecco Ultra Performance golf shoe, which combines a cushioned three-component insole unit and PU Lite wrap-around system for unmatched comfort and midsole support. The Ultra Performance has golf’s most advanced outsole design that enhances traction, reduces weight, and ensures flexibility via a leading-edge stability system.

One of the major changes for 2009 is that Ecco inlaid the spikes to match the depth of stability island in the sole of the shoe, which creates a flat surface. The result is shoe thats low to the ground. The Ultra Performance also features Ecco’s Direct Inject Technology, that creates a “total one piece unit.”  The process involves no glue or cement to connect the outsole and leather upper. Instead Ecco injects liquid polyurethane, the same type of plastic used in rollerblade wheels. A unique feature of this process is that it not only encapsulates the midsole, but also the heel, and instep of the shoe. This creates a brace on top of the foot  provides a lot of support, similar to what you’d find in a pair of hockey skates.
