At the PGA Merchandise Show, I had a chance to take a look at the new Cleveland Golf VP™109 and VP™509 putters.
The VP™109 and VP™509 putters have a new and improved visual alignment warning aid, which has taken Dual Axis Alignment™ technology to the next level. These two latest additions to Cleveland® Golf’s Visual Performance™ (VP™) putter line help aid players who typically struggle with improper alignment and an inconsistent putting address position. Engineers at Cleveland® Golf have learned that one of the major contributors to missed putts is alignment. I’ve found that alignment is very crucial on those shorter putts in the 4 to 5 foot range. By solving the problem of missed or pulled putts due to alignment issues, this results in lower scores, better distance control, and more made putts.
Dual Axis Alignment™ technology allows golfers to determine when their hands move out of position and to detect when their eyes are not directly over the ball. By addressing these two issues, VP™ putters help to increase impact consistency while improving distance control for a truer roll on the greens. The new VP™109 and VP™ 509 offer a 30% larger textured elastometer face insert, which provides a soft yet responsive feel. Their low density material, which is seven times less dense than steel, also helps move CG lower and deeper in the head.
The new VP™ 109 is $109 and the VP™ 509 is $129. Both new putters will begin shipping on February 15, 2009.
