Golf is one of those sports where you are constantly investing in new equipment, and nothing is worse than leaving behind your new golf club on the course. We’ve all been there, bringing several clubs with you to attempt a green side chip or bunker shot, and you forget to pickup your clubs after finish playing the hole. And usually you don’t realize that your missing a club, until you need that club again or get home. So how does someone get in contact with the owner, without you having to put all your personal information on the golf club?

The G-Label Golf Corporation just introduced a new product called G-Label, which is a golf labeling product designed to protect your clubs from being lost and keeping your personal information private.

Look and Feel

The G-Labels are made from 1.5 mil polyester with a clear laminate cover that protects against fading from the sun and from rubbing off. And are very adhesive, designed to stick to metal and composite materials that golf shafts are made from. The G-Labels reminded me of labels that you can make with your P-Touch, but a little more wider.

In the event one of the G-Labels falls off a club or is damaged, it is covered by a limited three year warranty, and G-Label will send you a replacement label. Also if you decide to sell your golf clubs, the G-Labels are transferrable to the new owner.

How does G-Label Work?

After you purchase a pack of 20 G-Labels, you need to do the following three steps in order to start inventorying your clubs:

Step 1) Create an account on the http://www.g-labelgolf.com-during this step you’ll enter your contact preference (Email or Phone) for how to get notified when someone finds your golf club.

Step 2) Add your clubs to your account by entering information about each club (manufacturer, model, age of club, and additional information). This step can be a bit laborious, especially if your entering golf clubs from the same manufacturer.

It would be nice to be able to autoselect the same manufacturer for all the clubs, when you add your first club. Otherwise, you need to keep selecting the manufacturer from the drop down list, every time you add a club. I understand why its done this way, because not everyone plays a complete set, but it would save you some time.

Step 3) Apply your corresponding G-Label tag with unique G-Label Identification Number (G.I.N.) to each golf club and your all done.

I’ve lost my club, now what?

In the event that someone finds your Sand Wedge that you left behind on the golf course, all they need to do is visit http://www.g-labelgolf.com/locator to begin the simple process of notifying you they have found your club.

On the locator screen the person just enters G-Label ID on the golf club and click the “Locate” button. The individual will then be asked if they are holding a Sand Wedge? Then just click a link to contact the owner of the club. On the contact screen, you’ll have the preferred contact method listed with the name and phone number to contact you or you can click on email, where you can fill out a form that sends an email to the owner.

The only small drawback to G-Labels is that you need to have internet access to contact the owner of a lost club. It would be nice if there were a text message option of contacting a person that you found their club by sending a text to “found id 0012″ to 123.333.444. This way someone can contact the golf club owner immeadiately and not have to be in front of a computer. Hopefully G-Label will be adding a text messages a contact option in a future version of the product.

Overall, I found the G-Labels to be a very simple and cost effective way to prevent your golf clubs from being lost.

G-Labels retail for $14.95
