The 2009 Solheim Cup at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, IL kicked off the 11th biennial event of U.S.A. vs. Europe with the opening ceremony this evening. The majority of people in attendance were decked out in Team U.S.A. colors of red, white, and blue. During the ceremony each team was introduced and player highlights were displayed on the huge screens in the pavilion.
Next each country’s flag were raised for each member of Team Europe, followed by U.S.A. Assistant captains Meg Mallon and Kelly Robbins who did the honor of raising the flag for Team U.S.A. as the crowd sang the national anthem. Quite a proud and patriotic moment for the fans and great way to start what should be great three days of golf.
