Lemont, IL-The third round of the BMW Championship was nothing short of spectacular with a new course record being set by Tiger Woods, who shot 9-under 62 for the outright lead going into Sunday’s final round of the FedExCup.

TW Walking to 12

The day didn’t start out so well for Woods, when he started his round with a bogey off the 1st hole. According to Woods, “Yeah, it was obviously — after I got past the first hole, I did all right.” The slow start didn’t last for long, when Tiger made an amazing shot on 7 by hitting his 6 iron out of the rough on the left side of the fairway, which he needed to start left of the green to avoid a tree in front of him and bunker. The ball came out perfectly landing only 15 feet from the fringe.  From that point going forward Tiger started to chip away at the lead and regain the outright lead after the ninth hole.

This was probably the best round Tiger has played since returning back from knee surgery.

Tiger Woods will be paired with Brandt Snedeker tomorrow who finished strong with four straight birdies posting a 66. The last time Snedeker was in the spotlight was the 2008 Masters where he had his breakout performance. This will be Snedeker’s first time playing with Tiger Woods and when asked how he would embrace the experience, Snedeker replied, “You want to play with the best when they’re playing their best and see what you’ve got and see what you need to work on.”

Others in Contention

For the fifth straight week, Padraig Harrington is in contention, T4 at 8-under. Jim Furyk, Luke Donald, and Sergio Garcia are T8 at 6-under. Sergio Garcia is projected to finish outside the top 30 and is on bubble from missing the final event.

Shot of the Day

One of the best shots of the day in my opinion had to be Sean O’hair’s greenside bunker shot he holed in on 18 for birdie.

Frank Jemsek-CEO Cog Hill Golf & Country Club

Jesmek

As I was walking from the 18th hole back to the media center, I was greeted by a tall gentleman who was thanking all the fans for coming out to Cog Hill Golf & Country Club to watch the BMW Championship. That man is Mr. Jemsek, the CEO of Cog Hill GC & CC. I can’t remember the last time the CEO of any golf course, stadium, etc, thanked the fans directly for coming out. Mr. Jemsek is a class act and make the BMW Championship and very special event.
