Yellow golf balls are balls you hit at your local driving range or low quality golf balls. No self-respecting golfer would ever use a yellow golf ball on the golf course. Right?
That’s all about to change with the new version of the popular Srixon Z-STAR Tour Yellow golf balls. Yep, that’s right a tour caliber premium yellow golf ball!
At the 2010 PGA Merchandise Show, Srixon quietly introduced the Z-STAR and Z-STARx Tour Yellow golf balls and I have to say I was quite skeptical about why anyone would want to play a yellow golf ball.
Why a Yellow Golf Ball?
Have you ever tried to track a golf ball on a clear and sunny day? Even with sunglasses on, you can easily lose the golf ball in the air.
To solve this problem, Srixon did a lot of testing backed by scientific data that has proven, that yellow is the most visible color in the visual spectrum and psychology has correlated green with calming and stress relief. Take the two findings and you have the Srixon Z-STAR and Z-STARx Tour Yellow golf balls.
Tour Yellow is a unique blend of yellow and green to formulate the next generations of tour golf balls. The Tour Yellow balls will be played by some of Cleveland Golf Tour Staff like Vijay Singh and Jim Furyk. It will be interesting to see what the reaction will be on Tour by fellow competitors and the fans.
Z-STAR
The Z-STAR is a high-performance multilayered ball with low compression and extremely soft feel. This is the softer of the two Z-STAR balls which is great around the greens and distance control with your putter. The only thing different is the color!
The Z-STAR Tour Yellow may turn heads on the golf course and make it easier to find my golf ball, but I’m curious to see if it will make me more relaxed?
I’m willing to try the Srixon Z-STAR Tour Yellow. Are you?
Srixon Z-STAR Tour Yellow MSRP $39.99, Available April 1, 2010 (no joke!)

Every time my husband tee’s off I can not keep track of his golf ball.
I think this may help keeping track of his golf balls.
Hi, do you have any samples of this ball ? Thanks Scot
I think the yellow Srixons are fantastic!
I am red/green color blind. When I look at a white golf ball on green grass, the grass literally rolls back and forth between red and green. Very disconcerting. The yellow somehow distracts my color blindness and allows me to easily focus on the ball.
I typically play ProVs or Nike Ones. My first “yellow” round I shot 77 and found the Srixons to play as well as the ProVs or Ones.
I played some of these the other day. They don’t help my game any but they are a lot easier to find so that reduced some of my walking around aimlessly time. Does it help my score…. no. I guess unless you count one less lost ball penalty sometimes. Does it increase my enjoyment of the round… Yes.
Played the Z star yellows this past weekend. Yellow or white, its a nice golf ball. They are also easier to see and find. I like them from a “style” stand point and your playing partners are sure to give you a comment or two. I had a hole in one 25 years ago with an orange Topflite XL. I wonder if more colors are next.
I really like the yellow, and I saw a Nationwide event on TV two weeks ago at Hayward CA and saw a player with the yellow ball. I was very excited to see a pro playing these. I would love to play the yellow but I am a distance ball person. When are they going to have the Trispeed 2 yellow. I would snap them up in a second because I always lose the flight of the ball into the green. I am an eight handicap and I don’t like spin off the driver. If you haven’t played the Trispeed 2 you are missing out. Great distance (5 yards farther than the Callaway HX Hot), and you would be surprised at the short iron and wedge spin you do get with this ball. I was very surprised at the soft feel on the putter too. Bring on the Yellow ball. Also, last week a fellow golfer drove his ball over and into my fairway. Didn’t even look to check to see if it was his ball and hit mine (he was playing a Titleist and mine was a Callaway)!!! The Yellow sure would have helped.
Reduces my paranoia that someone mistakenly plays my ball…unless they get TOO popular!
Great ball…feel…distance…visibility…
I played the Z-Star Yellow yesterday and won with it tured a few heads on the putting green looks the new ball on my course!
