I have had putting problems for a long time, not matter what the cost of the putter I was using was. I have had Camerons, Mills, Sizemore, and many more of the popular putters available. On a visit to Golfsmith the other day I picked up a Odyssey Backstryke blade putter and commenced to make 7 twenty foot putts in a row. I know that sounds crazy but it happened, so I bought the putter and I played my first round of golf with it the other day, and one putted four of the nine holes that I played, and two putted the rest. Very inpressive, I have found what I've been looking for, finally.

Ive been using a $10 Dunlop putter that I bought in the mid-90s. I just started playing again 3yrs ago after a 12yr absence from the game. I bought new irons (on my 2nd set of new irons) but stuck with that old Dunlop putter. I didnt see any need to spend big money on a new putter as that one was "good enough." I dont pretent to be a good putter but I was never much better or worse than anyone I played with. This season I cant seem to hit anything, having alot of consistency issues, and figure its time for a new putter. I demoed a dozen putters for over an hour at Golfsmith back to back to back and the Backstryke 2 ball to me had the best "feel" and consistency. Ive yet to try it on the course (as I bought online for a lower price) but I cant wait to get it and go.

I tried the backstryke....it was okay. I can see the premise behind it to keep your hands in front of the ball more....but it's just weird looking! haha

Can anyone tell me the difference between the three models? You'd think it would be made clear by visiting the manufacturer's web site, but I couldn't find *anything* of use there at all ...

Hi Ruth,
Forward press refers to your hands being in front and leaning forward towards the hole. Dave Stockton is a big teacher of this putting technique. I hoped, you had tried out the putter before purchasing and were fitted for it.

Thanks

I started golfing a few years using a crappy putter that came with a set of cheap irons. After trying out every putter on the rack, the Marxman proved to be the best. The only draw back was the price ($200 and was exempt from any coupons or promotions). However, now I'm making putts that I have never even come close to with my previous putter, and this justifies the $$ I spent. If looking for a new putter, you will not be disappointed. The extra cost will pay off over the years as your putting game improves exponentially.

I have had major putting problems over the years of Professional Golf . Finaly I have found a putter with shaft lean a pre set forward press... if you will... without de loftingthe putter.... the roll s noticable immediatly, if you have putted for a long time with an "Offset" putter and you switch to an "Onset putter" like these the look at first will freak you out.... untill you roll one it feels so good off of the putter and much easier to align.
