There are few professional golfers throughout the world as beloved by fans as Fred Couples.  So it was fitting then, that ‘Boom Boom’
recorded his maiden Champions Tour victory at The Ace Group Classic on Valentine’s Day.  The victory, Couples first official PGA TOUR-sanctioned win since 2003, netted him $240,000 and propelled him into early contention
for the 2010 Charles Schwab Cup.

Couples relied on his new Bridgestone Golf J38 Dual Pocket Cavity irons and his trusty Tour B330 golf ball to fire a final round 64, eclipsing his nearest competitor by a single shot.  For the tournament, Couples was 17-under par and finished 1st in several statistical categories for the week including Driving Distance, Greens-in-Regulation, Birdies, Eagles and Sand Saves.  In fact, with the new J38 Dual Pocket Cavity Irons in play, Coupleshad one of the best ball-striking weeks of his career – hitting over 90% of the greens in regulation.

“Fred has been the centerpiece of our TOUR Team since the brand was introduced in the US in 2005, so it is really gratifying to see him having the success he is as he enters this exciting stage of his career” said Dan Murphy, Bridgestone Golf – Vice President of Marketing. “He is knocking down flags left and right and he is still one of the longest hitters on either TOUR.  We believe that Freddie will make a real run at the Charles Schwab Cup in 2010, and that he’ll also be in contention in some of the biggest tournaments of the year on the PGA TOUR.  2010 could be a year to remember for Fred and Bridgestone.”
