The speculation of Puma buying Cobra Golf has been going on since late last year and today the deal is official.

“Through the acquisition of Cobra Golf, we reinforce PUMA’s commitment to our sports performance business by strengthening our growing and successful Golf category,” said Jochen Zeitz, Chairman and Chief Executive of PUMA. “Cobra Golf has a history of innovative performance products fused with an edge and is therefore a perfect fit for PUMA, reinforcing our overall mission of becoming the most desirable Sportlifestyle company.”

Look out for PUMA golf clubs in the near future — the sale will be official this Spring.

I wonder how much the economy had to do with Acushnet selling off Cobra Golf to Puma? What do you think?

Rob, I’m very curious about this transaction with Puma’s strong push into the women’s golf apparel arena, how it will affect Cobra’s line of women’s golf equipment. I would love to hear how women golfers like Cobra’s current line of product and why…

Hey Brian,
good question to ask my friends at Puma and Cobra about. Let’s see what I can find out for you.
Thanks

Hi Brian,
Cobra Golf has probably one the biggest selections of women’s golf clubs on the market. The S2 Driver is available to women in both an straightneck/adjustable model and offset for the woman who need more draw bias and maximum forgiveness. The #1 selling hybrid in golf – the Baffler Rail which will ship next month. Cobra has three iron models for women: S2, S2 Max irons, S2 Max iron-hybrid set. It’s also important to note, that the merger will keep all the Cobra Engineers and Cobra staff. The Cobra Golf brand will still exist and stand on it’s own from Puma. I’m going to see what Puma has planned in terms of clubs for women, etc.

Thanks
R
