It was a picturesque day in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico, with the sun shinning and the Luquillo Mountains in the backdrop. The field of 132 players were eager to the complete the first round of the Puerto Rico Open after several days of rain delays.
Skip Kendall and Kris Blanks are co-leaders with both in at -7 under after the first round this morning. Kendall and Blanks will be playing the second round tomorrow, while the later tee times will start the second round today.
The Course Conditions and Weather
The weather which hasn’t been cooperating as of late was the real star of today’s action, with the clear blue skies and sun. This is what Puerto Rico is known for and I know that the players and the fans are really appreciating the excellent weather. The course at Trump National Golf Club, is surprisingly great shape after 6.6 inches of rain that fell on Thursday. Some parts of the course are a little soft, but with preferred lies being played, it’s likely that the course record of 64 will be broken, by end of play on Monday.

Hi Rob,
Barry and I flew in from Puerto Rico last night, grabbed a bite and went to bed due to Delta airlines delays. We never made it to the final round of the PR Open either but had a great time at the Banco Popular and Puerto Rico Tourism 18th hole sky boxes
Hope to catch up with you in a few days. We had a great time!
Hi Stacy,
You and Steve both had flight delay problems on Delta. I’m glad you guys had a good time and it was nice meeting you and Barry. Take care.
