Callaway Golf’s staff professional Derek Lamely victory at the 2010 Puerto Rico Open, captured the second PGA Tour win in as many days for Callaway’s new Tour i Series Golf Ball and FT Tour Driver. It was the first career PGA victory for Lamely, a rookie playing in just his 12th PGA event, and the third win of the young season for Callaway’s new Tour i Series Ball and FT Tour Driver.
The 29-year-old Lamely’s two-stroke victory at the 2010 Puerto Rico Open came on the heels of Sunday’s dominating win by fellow Callaway staff professional Ernie Els at the WGC-CA Championship at Doral. Like Els, Lamely paired a Tour i Series ball with Callaway’s new FT Tour Driver. Earlier this year, Callaway staffer Cameron Beckman employed the same driver-ball complement en route to winning the Mayakoba Golf Classic—marking three times that the Tour i and FT Tour combination has marched to a PGA Tour victory in the early stages of 2010.

Callaway Tour i(z)
“The new Tour i(z) ball is just awesome,” said Lamely after his win. “I noticed right away that the wind doesn’t affect it as much as other balls. It doesn’t up-shoot or get blown around in the crosswinds, which removes a lot of variables. It’s consistent when I’m putting as well, which gives me confidence when I’m over the ball. It’s the best ball I’ve ever used, no doubt about it.”
The Callaway Tour i(z) is a 4-piece Tour ball that utilizes second generation Dual Core technology to deliver faster ball speeds and increased distance. It features a proprietary HEX Aerodynamics cover pattern that reduces drag and improves flight stability through every kind of wind condition. A new urethane cover provides Tour-level feel and control around the green, which was on display during Lamely’s 63-66 closing performances in Puerto Rico. Now available at retail, Callaway’s Tour i(z) golf balls feature a new product introduction retail price of $42.99 a dozen.
Callaway’s FT Tour Driver
“I hit the FT Tour Driver last year and I loved it from the start,” Lamely said. “It hasn’t even thought about coming out of the bag. That driver is way too good. There’s nothing even close to it out there.”
Callaway’s new FT Tour Driver features a 440 cc multi-material clubhead with a full-length hosel and a slightly open face angle to deliver the look at address preferred by highly skilled players. FT Tour’s design combines an ultra lightweight carbon composite body that delivers extraordinary accuracy and workability, with a titanium Hyperbolic clubface that yields incredible ball speeds and increased distance. Originally introduced on the professional tours in 2009 as FT-9 Tour Authentic, the tremendous excitement that was buzzing among the world’s best players convinced Callaway officials to commercialize the product in 2010 as FT Tour. The driver arrived at retail this month and features a new product introduction retail price of $399.
