Golf shirts are made from different performance fabrics that do a good job of keeping you cool and dry, during the warm months of the golf season. The one thing that these fabrics don’t do very well, is fight odor that gets trapped in the fabric. What if there was a golf shirt performance fabric that kept you cool and dry, but also offered odor protection?

Sunice X-Static Royal Blue Polo

You’re in luck, because Sunice Outerwear has a new line of golf shirts for Spring/Summer 2010 that are made with X-Static.

What is X-Static?
X-Static is a fiber made with layer of 99,9% pure silver, which is permanently bonded to the surface of a textile fiber. It has been used primarily as an industrial and medical product, servicing high-tech industries and the Department of Defense. Now for the first time it’s being used in golf apparel and exclusive to Sunice. If it’s good enough for NASA and U.S. Special Forces, you know it’s an excellent technology and perfect for golf.

X-Static has several advantages that make it perfect for golf apparel: Silver is one of the most natural and effective anti-microbial agents in the world. Silver has great therm regulating, anti-odor, and anti-static properties.

Look and Feel
The X-Static polos are combined with Sunice’s Flow -Dry moisture management fabric (97% Polyester, 3% X-Static), that have a nice athletic cut and hand to the fabric. At first glance on the Royal Blue version of the X-Static polo, you really can’t see the silver fibers, until you look on the inside of the shirt. On the white and black versions of the polos the silver fibers are visible on the exterior of the fabric-giving it a unique look and texture.

The hand on the fabric of the polos is very similar to that of any polyester blend performance golf shirt/polo, with a medium weight to it. What I really liked about the Royal Blue (Bremer) and black (Rufus) versions of the polos, is the athletic cut of the body and sleeves, making the polos easy to play in, without having to bunch up the sleeves at a address. The white (Rufus) version of the X-Static polo is made from the same Sunice Flow-Dry moisture management fabric, blended with X-Static, which has a half-zip up collar, and contrasting teal blue accents.

Overall, the Sunice X-Static polos have a nice look and feel that any golfer would appreciate.

Performance
X-Static has several advantages that make it perfect for golf apparel: Silver is one of the most natural and effective anti-microbial agents in the world. Silver also has great therm regulating, anti-odor, and anti-static properties and nowhere is that more important, than in golf shirts.

I was very curious to see if X-Static with it’s anti-odor properties could perform well at fighting odor. In order to test the X-Static polos, I wore them during my recent golf trip to Puerto Rico, where the hot and humid climate would provide optimal testing conditions. The combination of Sunice Flow-Dry moisture management fabric and X-Static, performed extremely well in keeping my body cool and dry while playing several rounds of golf in Puerto Rico. Sweat never seemed to be trapped against my skin and my golf shirt during my rounds in the hot and humid climate of Puerto Rico. The Flow-Dry fabric did a great job of moving the sweat from my body and through the fabric-evaporating it into the air. Keeping me nice and cool.

The X-Static Difference
You’re probably thinking, that any moisture or sweat that passes through the fabric is bound to trap odor and leave it smelling stinky afterward. That’s the case with any performance fabric, which are generally made from polyester. So, I was a curious to see how well adding X-Static to performance fabric could do at fighting odor, especially in a hot and humid climate.

I was quite surprised how well my shirt smelled after each round of golf, considering how much sweat and moisture passed through the fabric. The scent I noticed was the smell of the outdoors and not of body odor. X-Static does an excellent job of fighting odor, especially when combined with moisture management fabric. Does this mean you can skip, washing your golf shirts after use? Absolutely not. If anything, you won’t feel self conscious hanging out at the 19th hole or grabbing a bite to eat after your round.

Caring for your Sunice X-Static polo is no different than your typical golf shirt fabric, just machine wash with no fabric softeners and either line dry or tumble dry low. The Sunice X-Static golf shirts did not shrink or fray after multiple washings and retained their shape well. The other benefit of X-Static is that it’s also has ant-static properties, so no static cling if you throw them in the dryer.

If you live in a hot and humid climate or are just looking for a golf shirt that will keep you cool and dry in the summer without trapping body odor, you need to check out the new line of Sunice X-Static polos.

Where could one of these shirts be purchased? My thought is to see the effectiveness of this fabric for someone who has the disorder of Hyperhydrosis. Please give information on how they can be purchased?

Thank you
