Silvis, IL-Paul Goydos is the fourth player in PGA Tour history to break 60, after recording a remarkable 12-under-par 59 in the opening round of the 2010 John Deere Classic on Thursday.

Goydos follows in the footsteps of Al Geiberger (1977), Chip Beck (1991) and David Duval (1999) after his 12-birdie assault at TPC Deer Run.

At age 46, Goydos is the oldest player to shoot a score under 60 , and is the only one of the group to break the barrier on a par 71.

Goydos closed out the back nine in just 28 shots, with eight birdies in nine holes, while only taking 22 putts all day.

The temperature outside may have been a scorcher, but its nothing compared to Goydos’ opening round score. I thought TPC courses were supposed to be tough?
