Stuart Appleby became only the fifth player in PGA Tour history to shoot 59 and go on to win the 2010 Greenbrier Classic by one stroke. Appleby’s 22-under par (258) broke his four-year drought on the TOUR without a win. The 59 was the fifth in PGA TOUR history, but the second in four weeks. It was quite an amazing comback, as Appleby erased an eight stroke lead to overtake Jeff Overton, by one shot for the win.
“It was just phenomenal,” Appleby said. “Then there’s the ball and the club, and you’re like, how did he do that?”
