Hunter Mahan did the unpredictable this weekend at the WGC Bridgestone Invitational, he beat the former number one golfer in the world Tiger Woods, by 30 strokes to win his second tournament of 2010 (Waste Management Phoenix Open).

The victory also locked up a spot on U.S. Ryder Cup team for Mahan, who also took home $1.4 million by shooting 12-under par 268 and beating Ryan Palmer by two strokes.

“I was hitting it sharp all week,” Mahan said. “I knew if I could get some pressure on them and get some momentum on my side early, maybe I could make a push for the lead and make something happen the last few holes. I got hot on that front nine.  It feels great to win a tournament like this, the best players in the world are here.”

Congratulations on your marriage and doing so well in your golf game. I work as a volunteer at the Firestone/Bridgestone tournament. I work as a marshal on hole #3. Good luck during this year and look forward to seeing you at Firestone in August. People have been asking me if we are related. Sorry to say we only have the same last name.
