Callaway Golf recently launched an unprecedented poll that invited fans to determine the wardrobe worn by staff professional Alvaro Quiros at the PGA Championship, taking place this week at Whistling Straits in Wisconsin.

This initiative put a new spin a time-honored tactic known as “scripting” in the golf apparel industry and allowed the public to decide which of Callaway’s soon-to-be-released Spring 2011 attire would be worn by one of the Tour’s best-dressed golfers during the season’s final major tournament.
Over the last week, the poll drew more participation than any other voter-based component in the history of Callaway’s Facebook page as more than 4,500 voters reviewed eight pairings and voted for their favorite. The winning selection, a Callaway Chev Pipe design, received 25% of the votes. This white, short-sleeve mesh polo features red engineered stripe inserts, and performance fabrics designed to optimize comfort on the course.
Beginning with the tournament’s opening round on Thursday, Quiros will compete in the top four vote-getting outfits. All pairings are from Callaway’s newly-announced Spring 2011 apparel line.
The winners are:
- Thursday, the FT Chev – 4th Place
- Friday, the Chev Engineered – 3rd Place
- Saturday, the Chev Elite – 2nd Place
- Sunday, the Chev Pipe – 1st Place

I was surprised none of the red styles were chosen. It’ll be interesting to see how he does at Whistling Straits.
