Charley Hoffman made TPC Boston look like a municipal par 3 golf course this Labor Day, recording 11 birdies in a final-round 9-under 62 that earned him a five-shot victory and moved him to No. 2 in the FedEx Cup Playoffs standings.
Hoffman, posted four rounds in the 60s (64-67-69-62), shooting a back-nine 29 Sunday to tie the tournament record at 22-under 262 and collect his second career PGA Tour victory.
This is the second time this season, that a player has won a tournament using the new Titleist 910 prototype driver following Titleist Brand Ambassador Ross Fisher’s victory last month at the Irish Open.
Hoffman summed up his victory by saying, “to go out and shoot 62 on a pretty tough golf course (in the final round), it’s fun.”
