TaylorMade Introduces the R1 Black Driver

Last month when the TaylorMade R1 Black driver showed up on the USGA Conforming Driver List, TaylorMade was quick to respond, saying it would not be producing retail version of the Black R1 Driver. That’s no longer the case! TaylorMade will be making the R1 Black driver available for retail on June 10th.

The Black version of the R1 driver, will be TaylorMade’s first black driver in three years, and will share the same specs as the white R1 driver, with 12 loft-sleeve settings and 7 face-angle positions, as well as two movable shot-shape weights.  The TaylorMade R1 Black driver will make its PGA TOUR debut next week in Memphis,.

“For three years we have only made white drivers and have heard from a number of golfers who just prefer the look of black,” said President and CEO, Mark King. “Our commitment has always been to provide golfers with the best performing golf equipment. The R1 Black gives players who prefer that color access to our industry leading technology.”

The TaylorMade R1 Black driver features an ultra-light Aldila RIP Phenom and is available at retail 6/10 for $399.
