In Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, Bridgestone Tour Team member Brandt Snedeker ensured Easter 2011 would be one he’d never forget, firing a tournament low 7-under par 64 to earn his way into a playoff for the Heritage. In his second career PGA TOUR victory, Snedeker made a title-clinching par on the 3rd hole of the sudden death playoff to secure the victory and vault him into 7th place in the 2011 FedExCup standings.

“With 5 Top 10’s this year, Brandt has been one of the hottest players on TOUR over the last few weeks, so we had a feeling that it was only a matter of time until he would be hoisting the second PGA TOURtrophy of his career,” said Dan Murphy, Vice President of Marketing – Bridgestone Golf, Inc. “We’re excited that the B330-S helped Brandt stand up to the tough test that is Harbour Town Golf Links. We were proud to see ‘Sneds’ don the Tartan Jacket. There isn’t a more deserving champion in golf.”

Snedeker relied on the incredible feel and consistency of the new Bridgestone Golf TOUR B330-S golf ball in his march to victory, compiling an array of impressive statistics throughout the course of the event. On the incredibly tight Harbour Town Golf Links, Snedeker finished T3 in Driving Accuracy and also managed T2 and T4 finishes in Putts per GIR and Putts PerRound, respectively. In addition, Snedeker negotiated the demanding track with 21 birdies for the week, the best of any competitor in the field.

The new TaylorMade Ghost series putters were inspired by the immense Tour success achieved by the Corza Ghost and TM-110 Tour models in the past 12 months, as the products combined to win multiple events worldwide including twice on the PGA Tour. The Ghost TM-110 Tour, in particular, gained vast notoriety and adoption following TaylorMade-adidas Tour Staff professional Paula Creamer’s victory at the 2010 U.S. Women’s Open. All new Ghost series models were engineered under the advisement of PGA Tour coach and TaylorMade Tour Staff professional Dave Stockton.

“The new TaylorMade Ghost series brings the technology and science behind the white color and alignment cues from previous models to a wider audience then ever before,” said Stockton. “I’ve never seen a series of putters that are so easy to aim.”

The TaylorMade Ghost series has already experienced validation from the game’s elite in 2011. Just last week at Augusta National, 10 players used Ghost model putters, including TaylorMade-adidas Golf Tour Staff professional Jason Day, who tied for second using a new Ghost Spider prototype.

PURE ROLL Solves Common Problems with Putter Launch Performance
TaylorMade’s patented PURE ROLL face inserts solve two common problems with standard putter launch performance. The first pertains to the loft of the putter face at impact. At impact, the loft of the putter face (typically 4°) lifts the ball off the ground and imparts backspin. When the ball lands, it skids and bounces before forward roll and constant ground contact begin. During this transition, from linear movement to rotational movement, the unpredictable nature of the skid phase of the putt can easily throw the ball off the intended line. Bouncing causes lateral deviation, which leads to missed putts.

Secondly, when effective loft is too low, the putter cannot sufficiently launch the ball cleanly from the depression it rests in on the green. The ball is driven forward or downward into the grass sitting immediately in front of the ball, causing the ball to bounce. Bounce steals momentum, so the ball rolls shorter than intended. Bounce can also cause the ball to deviate from the intended target line, especially if the ball should hit small imperfections on the green.

The composition and construction of the PURE ROLL insert is specially engineered to bring the grooves into direct and active contact with the ball during impact, even on short putts. The grooves in the face also serve in part to strategically soften the insert’s structure. Together, these factors make the insert deform at impact, putting the grooves into direct contact with the cover of the ball.

In summation, PURE ROLL inserts help to reduce skidding, promoting precise line and optimum speed control. The result is a smoother roll and better overall performance on the greens.

Rossa Corza Ghost Mallet Putter

TaylorMade Golf, maker of Rossa® putters, has unveiled Corza Ghost, a mallet specially designed to be exceptionally easy to aim, and exceptionally easy to use to roll the ball down your intended line. It was designed with significant input from the hottest putting instructor in the world, Rossa Tour Staff professional Dave Stockton.

“We started with the intention of designing a putter that’s easier to aim than any other,” said Bill Price, Rossa senior director. “That led us to experiment with a white finish. We consulted Dr. Steven A. Hitzeman, a professor at the Indiana School of Optometry and he felt we were onto something.”

The Contrast of White Against Dark Makes Aiming Easier
“Corza Ghost’s white putterhead stands out so clearly against its background — the putting surface – because of the high contrast between white and green,” said Dr. Hitzeman, who is also a past president of the Indiana Optometric Association and a past chairman of the American Optometric Association’s Sports Vision Section. “That high contrast maximizes stimulation to the retina and highlights the head’s shape and features. The contrast would be lower if the putter were black or gray because these colors are closer in luminance to the color of the putting green than white. White creates the biggest difference in luminance, hence maximizing contrast and promoting focus.

Many golfers use the leading edge of the putter as part of their alignment strategy (by positioning the edge perpendicular to the imagined target line). So, this high contrast for the leading edge gives the golfer the best chance of squaring up the putterface at address. Also, the lines on the top of the putter are painted black to achieve maximum contrast against the white surface of the putter. All of these high-contrast alignment elements give the golfer the best possible chance of accurately aiming the putter.”

How the Corza Ghost Works
To make it even easier to aim the Corza Ghost, Rossa engineers put three black alignment lines on the crown and a circular hole in the back of the putterhead, giving you different options to focus on to lock in your aim. “You can focus on the topline to aim Ghost,” said Bret Wahl, senior director of iron, wedge and putter development, “or you can focus on the alignment lines to visually connect the circular hole and your ball to lock in your aim. The point is that you’ve got options, each one highly effective.”

Rossa Corza Ghost Alignment Stripes

Because Corza Ghost’s putterhead is white, its three alignment options are easier to focus on and use, according to Dr. Hitzeman. “The Corza Ghost putter’s three alignment elements all have high contrast against their backgrounds. This high contrast maximizes stimulation to the retina, which helps the golfer to focus and use these aiming features effectively.”

Eliminating “Hot Spots”
“Hot Spots” are reflections of direct sunlight from the top of the putter into the golfer’s eye, and distract the player’s attention from the task at hand, which is to focus on the putterhead, the alignment system, and aiming the putter squarely down the target-line.

“When I started playing on tour in the 1960s, I used a silver mallet,” said Stockton. “Nicks and marks would form on the crown from normal use. They lit up when sunlight hit them at address, which I found extremely distracting, so much that I would have the crown sandblasted frequently to erase the hot spots. Because when you look down at the putter you don’t want anything disturbing your focus, which should be on the putterhead and the features of it that you use to align the putterface squarely down the target-line.”

The Corza Ghost’s white finish helps keep hot spots from standing out, allowing you to focus your attention on seeing the whole form of the putterhead and the alignment system, so you can aim without distraction.

Large, Solid-Feeling, High-MOI Mallet
Being a mallet, Corza Ghost’s high-MOI head is extremely stable on off-center hits and feels extremely solid at impact. Its three alignment lines on the crown function not only to help aim the face accurately, but also to frame the ball in the middle of the face, which promotes solid, center-face contact on every stroke.

AGSI®+ to Promote Better Roll
Corza Ghost also has the advantage of Rossa’s renowned and tour-proven AGSI®+ (Anti-skid Groove System Insert) Technology. AGSI+ features 14 polymer-filled grooves in the face that “hold” the ball briefly at impact to promote forwardspin for a smoother roll and more accurate results. The AGSI+ insert, in concert with the putterhead’s extremely high MOI, also delivers superior consistency in forward roll on off-center hits, something not shown in tests of other popular putters.

Two More Ghost Models in the Pipeline
Corza Ghost is scheduled to appear at retail starting in June, at a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $159. Two more Ghost models – a blade and a mid-mallet – also with white finish and black alignment lines, are scheduled to become available in July.

Do you have a slow swing speed <100 MPH? Produce a low ball flight? Need all the help you can get from your irons? If you answered “Yes,” to any of these three questions, then you need to check out the TaylorMade Burner SuperLaunch Irons.

TaylorMade Burner SuperLaunch Iron

Enter the Burner SuperLaunch, an iron specifically designed to be spectacularly forgiving and easy to get in the air, allowing a certain segment of players – mainly slower swingers and low-ball hitters — to get more distance. In addition, Burner SuperLaunch iron’s generous offset helps straighten a slice and promote a draw.

Burner SuperLaunch irons are also engineered to deliver tremendous forgiveness from end-to-end (heel to the toe) and top to bottom (topline to leading edge). In fact, it’s the most forgiving iron ever from TaylorMade. That makes it a great iron for high-handicappers with patterns of inconsistent ball-striking. In fact, Burner SuperLaunch irons boast the highest MOI of any TaylorMade iron, ever.

Multifunctional, Beveled Sole Promotes High Launch
The first thing you notice about Burner SuperLaunch irons is that each features a wide, multifunctional sole, which is key to establishing the low and deep CG location that makes every one of these irons so easy to get high in the air. However, each sole is strategically beveled to reduce the degree of interaction with the turf. That means you get the low-deep CG-positioning benefits of a large sole, yet it plays like a much smaller, narrower sole.

When you rest a Burner SuperLaunch iron behind the ball, you’ll notice the substantial topline, which contributes to the exceptional stability and forgiveness. TaylorMade engineers cambered the topline’s rearward edge to give it a downward slant, resulting in a more dynamic appearance.

Individually-designed Long-irons, Mid-irons and Short-irons
Like the Burner irons, the Burner SuperLaunch long-irons, mid-irons and short-irons were designed separately, which is clear when you see the long-irons, which boast a decidedly low-profile shape compared to the rest of the set. This shape, when combined with the wide sole and deep cavity, help make Burner SuperLaunch long-irons so much easier to launch at lower swing speeds. The low-profile shape also makes the long-irons look easy to hit, too. On the opposite end of the set, Burner SuperLaunch short-irons have a traditional face-height and profile, while the middle-irons are of medium-profile, about halfway between the traditional profile of the short-irons and low-profile of the long-irons.

Progressive Face Thickness throughout the Set
Progressive face thickness throughout the set has the thinnest faces in the long-irons for higher COR, faster ball speed and better weight distribution and thicker faces in the short-irons for better feel. Inverted Cone Technology in every Burner SuperLaunch iron helps expand the area of the clubface that delivers fast ball speed to promote more distance on off-center hits.

Of course, the most critical performance benefit of Burner SuperLaunch is how easily they launch the ball and how high they launch the ball. Slower swingers will find it a breeze to launch these irons on an extremely high flight and with the spin necessary to keep the ball in the air long enough to achieve significant added carry, and when the ball comes down it will land steeply and softly.

New Grooves Design
Burner SuperLaunch irons incorporate a new TaylorMade groove design that conforms to the USGA’s new ruling on grooves, which will be enforced in high-level competition starting in 2010 and in recreational golf starting in 2024.

Availability and Pricing for Burner SuperLaunch
The standard set of Burner SuperLaunch irons includes 4-iron through attack wedge, and will be offered at a street price of $599 with steel shafts and $799 with graphite. A 3-iron and sand wedge are also offered separately. Burner SuperLaunch irons are offered in four shaft flexes – S, R, M, L.

The Burner SuperLaunch ladies’ set features its own unique purple color palette. Burner SuperLaunch irons will become available starting on April 1, 2010.

Last year TaylorMade introduced the R9 driver, a 420cc head with Face Control Technology (FCT) and Movable Weight Technology (MWT) with three moveable weights. Not too long after they introduced the R9 460, an adjustable driver with only FCT, but in a more forgiving 460cc head.

“Those two drivers were created because TaylorMade didn’t yet have the ability to combine both FCT and MWT in a 460cc head,” said Todd Beach, TaylorMade’s senior director of metalwood development. “A year later, we do.”

TaylorMade R9 SuperTri Driver

Introducing the R9 SuperTri driver, which combines FCT and MWT with three movable weights in a 460cc head, marking the ultimate unification of TaylorMade’s major driver technologies with maximum size to deliver massive distance and forgiveness.

The R9 SuperTri was made possible by two crucial developments by TaylorMade engineers that saved enough weight to allow FCT and MWT to coexist in a 460cc head. The first is better, more widespread use of TaylorMade’s Ultra-Thin Wall technology throughout the clubhead. The second is a new, lighter FCT sleeve that does everything the former one did while weighing three grams less.

FCT + MWT + 460cc = Supreme Adjustability, Distance and Forgiveness
The impact of incorporating FCT and MWT into a 460cc head is enormous. The larger head is more forgiving, and its CG is two millimeters farther back in the head than the R9 driver, making it easier to launch the ball higher and with more spin, helping players gain more distance. At the same time, the inclusion of MWT with three weights promotes a side-to-side trajectory change of up to 75 yards.

Inverted Cone Technology (ICT) is also a crucial piece of the R9 SuperTri’s makeup. Though it’s milled onto the back of the clubface where it’s out of sight, ICT plays a critical role by dramatically increasing the area of the clubface that delivers fast ball speed, promoting more distance on off-center hits.

R9 SuperTri Features Reshaped Crown, Lighter Shaft
The R9 SuperTri’s clubhead is sleeker than previous R9 driver heads, thanks to a reshaped crown that reduces wind resistance. Though the shape is more aerodynamic, the face is the deepest (62mm) TaylorMade has ever incorporated into a driver with MWT, and is deeper than most other competitive drivers currently on the market. Visually, the R9 SuperTri clubhead is a killer, thanks to its new shape and its black-on-black color scheme, including a black PVD clubface last seen in the r7 SuperQuad.

The R9 SuperTri is equipped with a Fujikura Motore 60-gram shaft, which is five grams lighter than the Motore 65 used in the R9 driver. In addition to being lighter, the Motore 60 makes it easier to launch the ball on a higher launch angle and at a higher spin-rate, which helps many players achieve longer carry for increased distance.

R9 SuperTri: The Most Advanced TaylorMade Driver Ever
The R9 SuperTri unites four viable performance technologies: FCT, MWT, UTW and ICT. Never before have four such impactful, performance-enhancing technologies been combined so effectively in a single driver. Plus, there’s the superior aerodynamics of the new crown shape.

The R9 SuperTri and R9 SuperTri TP are the most advanced, highest-performing drivers TaylorMade has ever developed. The distance-producing power and shot-straightening abilities created by their combined clubhead size, clubhead design, performance technologies and shaft specifications make them clubs that no golfer should be without.

The R9 SuperTri includes three weights – 16-gram, 1-gram, 1-gram – and an FCT torque wrench. It’s available in four lofts — 8.5, 9.5, 10.5, 11.5 – and five shaft flexes — L, M, R, S, X. Street price is $399.

The R9 SuperTri TP features the same head as the R9 SuperTri but with a choice of ten premium shafts including the Aldila Voodoo, Mitsubishi Fubuki and Matrix Ozik. Choosing a custom TP shaft adds an additional $100 to the cost of the club.

It becomes available starting on February 19, 2010.

Three years after unveiling Burner 07, the most successful driver in TaylorMade history, the No. 1 driver company in golf is unveiling the next generation of this phenomenal franchise, named simply Burner SuperFast. Weighing just 284 grams (an astounding 14 grams less than the Burner 07 and Burner 09 drivers), Burner SuperFast is a speed demon, designed to deliver increased clubhead speed and superior distance.

TaylorMade Burner SuperFast Driver

Largest Clubface of Any TaylorMade Driver
The Burner SuperFast driver’s improved performance starts with a new 460cc clubhead shape that’s sleeker and more aerodynamic than past Burner drivers. This new head also boasts high MOI for tremendous forgiveness, and incorporates the largest clubface of any TaylorMade driver. Measuring an expansive 4,500 square millimeters, the new clubface is 14% larger than Burner 09′s clubface. The larger face is important in light of the fact that the longer club-length of Burner drivers, like Burner SuperFast, makes it more challenging for the average player to make square contact consistently, and the larger face gives them more area to strike the ball with.

The Burner SuperFast face also features a new bulge and roll design that’s optimized to work with the higher MOI head to maximize forgiveness on off-center hits. Finally, the clubface incorporates TaylorMade’s renowned Inverted Cone Technology, which promotes faster ball speed on off-center hits.

The Burner SuperFast driver also incorporates TaylorMade’s proven Dual-Crown technology, which both lowers and pulls back the center of gravity to promote a higher launch angle and increased spin. Introduced in the TaylorMade Tour Burner driver two years ago, and also used in the Burner 09, Dual Crown technology is tremendously valuable.

Longer, Lighter Shaft Promotes Higher Launch
Also critical to the Burner SuperFast driver’s performance is its Matrix Ozik XCon 4.8 shaft, which is both ultra-light and tip-soft, helping the golfer generate more ball speed, a higher launch angle and more spin to promote more distance. And at 46.5″ in length, Burner SuperFast automatically promotes a wide and fast swing arc.

Burner SuperFast: Our Lightest Driver Ever
Another vital upgrade to the Burner SuperFast is the new Winn Lite grip that weighs just 30 grams, which is a full 14 grams lighter than the Burner 09′s grip, yet it sacrifices nothing in terms of feel and traction. It’s a critical component to our overall quest to make this club, at 284 grams, the lightest driver we’ve ever produced.

Put every element of our newest version of SuperFast technology together and you’ve got a driver that screams through the hitting zone to promote more pop at impact for more clubhead speed and distance than any Burner driver ever has, and that’s saying something. The best news is that all players can take advantage of Burner SuperFast’s speed and distance benefits, as the driver will also be available in a ladies version in its own color palette.

The Burner SuperFast driver is available in three lofts – 9.5, 10.5, HT – and five shaft flexes – L, M, R, S, X.

Availability February 19, 2010 at a street price of $299.

TaylorMade Burner SuperFast Fairway Wood

Burner SuperFast Fairway Woods
The 17-4 steel Burner SuperFast fairways share the driver’s aerodynamic head shape and, compared to Burner 08 fairways, are lighter in weight, longer in club-length by a half-inch, are larger in size and deeper of face, all of which combines to make them easier to play and to promote increased distance. At 301 grams they’re the lightest fairways we’ve ever offered, and they also feature the largest clubhead size we’ve ever offered in a steel fairway, with the 3-wood measuring 200cc.

Burner SuperFast fairways are available in 3-wood (13*), 5-wood (15*), 7-wood (17*) and five shaft flexes – L, M, R, S and X.

Availability February 19, 2010 at a street price of $199 per club.

The new TaylorMade XFT Wedges utilize a four-step process to produce a face that lies flat and high performance grooves. The grooves of the XFT wedges feature a rough groove surface that help promote maximum backspin and control that you want in your short game.

To replace the face you utilize a similar torque wrench that you use on the R9 or R7 drivers to loosen the bolts on the XFT wedges and washers hold the bolts in place so you don’t lose them. Watch the video as TaylorMade’s Wade Liles demonstrates how easy it is to get fresh grooves.

Available in lofts from 50,52,54, 56,58,60, 64 with varying bounces.
